Scuderia Ferrari is overtaken by McLaren in Drivers' and Constructors' Championship points after the 2010 Chinese Grand Prix. Ferrari Formula 1 pilot Fernando Alonso is now 3rd in Drivers points with 49 after after finishing 4th in the Chinese Grand Prix. Nico Rosberg of Mercedces has 50 points, and Jenson Button is now in the lead with 60 points after winning the Chinese Grand Prix. Once again Red Bull locked down the front row in Qualifying. Fernando Alonso's Ferrari started 3rd on the grid, with Felipe Massa 7th. Qualifying was over a dry track, but predicted rain resulted in a wet track on race day. Alonso jumped the start and was penalized, but once again proved he can fight his way back. At one point Alonso overtook Massa as they drove into the pit, raising some debate as to whether or not the pass was simply because Massa's wheels spun around the corner of the wet track as they headed to the pit. Aside from the buzz over the Ferrari team mates, drivers from different teams remarked that the Chinese Grand Prix was a hard or even chaotic race. The 2010 Formula 1 season continues at Alonso's home Grand Prix in Spain on May 9th.

Scuderia Ferrari manages to hang on to leads in Formula 1 Drivers' and Constructors' Championships after a troubled Malaysian Grand Prix. Lady luck first turned against Ferrari in Qualifying, when the team waited for a forcasted pause from rain. Instead of a dry track, they only got one that was wetter. Unable to match the times of other top teams who qualified in better conditions, Ferrari drivers Massa and Alonso would start from 19th and 21st on the grid. Alonso could only hope the race would be run under the same conditions. Of course... it was unusually, perfectly dry during the Malaysian Grand Prix on Sunday. The mighty Red Bulls, who were 1st and 3rd on the grid, managed to finish the race without falling apart or crashing into McLarens -- Sebastian Vettel winning the Malaysian GP over team mate Mark Webber. Nico Rosenberg filled out the podium for Mercedes GP. Ferrari scored only 6 points in this race, from Felipe Massa's 7th place finish. Fernando Alonso fought the good fight with a broken gearbox since the formation lap, and dueled with McLaren's Jenson Button for 8th, but had to retire one lap from the final one due to engine failure in what Alonso called, "The hardest race of my life."

Ferrari did not manage another 1-2 finish in the Australian Grand Prix, but their 3rd and 4th -place finish to McLaren and Renault respectively, keeps them in the lead for the Constructors' Championship with 70 points. Furthermore, Scuderia Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa stay 1st and 2nd in Drivers' Championship points. Although Alonso had spun backwards at the start in Melbourne, he recovered from last place in advancing to 4th. Jenson Button won the Australian GP for McLaren and rises to 3rd in Drivers' points, while team mate Lewis Hamilton takes 4th. After a 3rd -place finish in Australia, Felipe Massa is the only driver to take a place on the podium twice this season. Meanwhile, the high-qualifying Red Bulls, which formed the front row of the grid, once again proved too fragile to finish on the podium.

Scuderia Ferrari finished perfectly in the opening race of the 2010 Formula 1 season, the Bahrain Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso won his debut race for the Ferrari team, with team mate Felipe Massa coming in second. Alonso had the fastest lap on lap 29 (1:59.583), and looked to be very quick after passing Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel on lap 33. Vettel's Renault slowed down considerably after a suspected cracked exhaust on the same lap (turned out to be an electrical problem caused by a faulty spark plug). Massa passed Vettel only half a lap later. It was the first race under F1's new refeuling ban, and looked to be rather processional -- the grid was Vettel 1, Massa 2, and Alonso 3. Lewis Hamilton, 4th on the grid, outfinished Vettel for 3rd. Michael Schumacher returned to F1 with a 6th place finish for Mercedes Benz.
